NEH Humanities Collections and Reference Resources Grants (HCRR)

Program Overview:
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant program supports projects that provide an essential underpinning for scholarship, education, and public programming in the humanities.
Funding from this program strengthens efforts to extend the life of books and manuscripts, photographs, sound recordings and moving images, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, art and material culture, and digital objects, making their intellectual content widely accessible.
Awards are also made to create various reference resources that facilitate the use of cultural materials. Applicants may request support for implementing preservation measures leading to enhanced access.
Eligible Grant Activities Include:
- Planning - Assessments - Digitization - Rehousing - Conservation treatment leading to enhanced access (See guidelines for complete list of other eligible project types.)
Grant amounts:
Up to $350,000 for Implementation Grants
Up to $50,000 for Foundation Grants (with an additional $10,000 to support inter-institutional planning and pilot activities)
